Amsterdam, 100-130K + OTE
Our client is a world-leading trading firm that operates across all major time zones. They specialize in algorithmic trading, leveraging the fastest FPGA-based systems to execute trades at lightning speed. As a global liquidity provider, they ensure efficient and seamless trading across multiple markets, including crypto and traditional securities.
For over 30 years, they’ve remained at the cutting edge of technology, constantly innovating to maintain their competitive edge. Despite their success, they retain a startup-like energy, rewarding engineers with exceptional compensation, a collaborative work environment, and exciting technical challenges.
Now, they’re looking for a Senior FPGA Engineer to push their trading systems to theoretical speed limits.
The Role – Senior FPGA Engineer
FPGAs are at the heart of their low-latency trading systems, enabling them to achieve sub-microsecond execution times. As a Senior FPGA Engineer, you’ll design, optimize, and implement ultra-fast hardware solutions that power their trading strategies.
You’ll work on end-to-end FPGA solutions—from RTL design to verification, testing, deployment, and performance optimization. You’ll also collaborate closely with traders, software engineers, and network specialists to refine and accelerate trading decisions.
What You’ll Do
✅ FPGA Development – Design and optimize high-performance RTL (Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL) for ultra-low latency trading.
✅ Verification & Testing – Automate FPGA testing using Python, C++, or SystemVerilog UVM.
✅ Network Optimization – Work on ultra-low-latency Ethernet (10GbE, 25GbE, 100GbE) and optimize TCP/IP, UDP, and FIX protocols.
✅ System Performance Tuning – Profile and optimize FPGA pipelines to maximize throughput and minimize nanosecond-level delays.
✅ Cross-Team Collaboration – Work alongside software, hardware, and networking teams to ensure seamless system performance.
✅ Hardware Tools & Integration – Use FPGA development tools like Xilinx Vivado, Altera Quartus, ModelSim, VCS, or similar.
✅ Automation & Scripting – Improve productivity by automating FPGA workflows using Python or shell scripting.
Tech Stack You’ll Work With
🔹 FPGA Platforms: Xilinx (AMD) & Altera (Intel)
🔹 Languages: SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL, C++, Python, Shell Scripting
🔹 Networking: TCP/IP, UDP, FIX, Ethernet (low-latency optimization)
🔹 Verification Tools: UVM, ModelSim, VCS, Vivado, Quartus
🔹 Development Environment: Linux (must be comfortable working in a Linux setup)
Who You Are
🔹 8+ years of experience in FPGA/ASIC design, testing, and verification.
🔹 Strong understanding of FPGA low-level functionalities, including transceivers, I/O standards, and memory interfaces.
🔹 Hands-on experience with FPGA development tools (Xilinx Vivado, Altera Quartus, ModelSim, etc.).
🔹 Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, Ethernet) and packet-based data processing.
🔹 Proficiency in SystemVerilog/Verilog, C++, and Python for automation and scripting.
🔹 Experience working in Linux-based environments.
🔹 A background in high-performance, real-time systems—finance experience is a plus but not required.
